What: Create a "task" for your teaching unit = 1 page explaining the task + student materials.
Some requirements:
In English!!! (yes, you can!!!! You are doing great so far!!!!).
Check the Àmbit de Llengües for the cycle you have chosen and get inspired!!!
Don't forget all tasks (for the learning of languages) have a final comprehensive communicative project (oral or written)
Instructions:
Make groups of 3-4 (you'll be working together throughout Module 2 in the construction of your teaching units).
Decide the cycle / age group for your teaching unit.
Decide whether your teaching unit would be implemented in the "English Classroom" or in any other class where the medium of instruction is English (i.e. Science in English, PE in English...).
Decide your starting point / topic... (the universe, plants,...).
Give your task a title.
Write your task introduction (max 1 page or less). Follow this model:
Task title (check the example on the session 2 ppt).
Cycle / Age group:
Topic / Starting point:
Task justification: using Escobar's grid, evaluate your task.
Task stages: Short description of task stages (pre-task, task preparation, task realisation, post-task...). Follow the example you have in the session 2 ppt.
Create the student materials. Here are some important things to remember:
Follow a "task-based" approach (as explained in session 2).
Follow the Àmbit de Llengües (Catalan Currículum).
Write clear instructions for the students.
Put everything together in your teaching unit wiki (if you don't have one, create a wiki for your teaching unit).
